Lasers

One of the few advantages of living in Australia is getting Lupe Fiasco's new album earlier than the rest of the world.

The much anticipated (and delayed) third studio album of Chicago-native Lupe Fiasco was released on 4th March 2011 and is entitled Lasers. It was first announced way back in 2009 and wasn't given a solid release date until late 2010. In an interview with Australian radio station Triple J, he stated: "It's one of the sadder parts of being on a major record label. At a certain point, it's out of your hands."

On October 26, 2010, the first official single from Lasers, "The Show Goes On" premiered on Lupe's official website. The next official single was released on February 8, 2011, entitled "Words I Never Said" and it featured Skylar Grey singing the chorus.

The album is typical Lupe Fiasco, yet very different to his two previous studio albums. He has said himself that he was more neutral to the production behind this albums as opposed to, say, The Cool. Nonetheless, it features controversial political and social themes like racism and inequality, but he gets his point across in true Lupe-lyrical fashion.

Featuring on the 12-track Lasers are some big names and some lesser known ones as well. They include; Sarah Green, Skylar Grey, MDMA, Matt Mahaffey, Eric Turner, Sway and John Legend.
Behind the scenes production was mainly handled by King David, but some others were Alex da Kid, Needlz, The Audibles, Kane Beatz, Ishi, The Buchanans, Miykal Snoddy, Arden Altino, Syience and Jerry Duplessis.

I hope you enjoyed my little summary of Lupe Fiasco's Lasers.
Tell us what you think of the album once it comes out near you.

Keep it banging.
Luke
